Preston School of Industry (also known as Preston Castle) is a former boy's correctional facility in Ione, California, which opened in the late 1800s. This place housed juveniles who were too bad for society, committing crimes ranging from burglary up to murder.
In 1890, construction began on the Preston School of Industry, a place where troubled boys could serve their time and learn a trade. The boys ranged in age from 12-24 years.
On February 23 1950, the head-housekeeper, Anna Corbin, was beaten to death in the basement while she was attending to her duties. She was 52 years old. This is an unsolved murder case.
In 1965, the agricultural teacher was murdered by 2 wards on the farm on the property. While welding a trailer, they buried a lead pipe in the back of his head.
